Full description

Day 1: Hanoi – Lang Son – Quang Uyen (L/D)

• Once your guide picks you up, begin your journey to Cao Bang.
• Visit the Chi Lang Gate in Lang Son, a historical landmark connected to the Vietnamese people’s 2,000-year struggle against Chinese invasion.
• Proceed to Dong Dang to witness Mother’s Temple, and then proceed to Dong Khe, a significant historical site where the First Indochina War’s Battle of Dong Khe was fought.
• Depart to Cao Bang after lunch, passing through hilly roads with amazing views.
• Get to your homestay in a village known for producing incense.
• After the day is over, take a stroll and independently explore the village.
• Accommodation: local homestay in Quang Uyen or similar.

Highlights and activities: Chi Lang pass, Quy Mon Quan gate, Dong Khe battle site, ethnic villages, and a 3-5 km walk.

Day 2: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Nguom Ngao Cave – Ba Be National Park (B/L/D)

• Enjoy local breakfast, you will leave the homestay and head to Trung Khanh, which is located directly on the Chinese border, after eating breakfast. This is your second opportunity to get to know and converse with the native Nung people residing in the hilly village of Phuoc Sen, which is well-known for its customary blacksmithing. The neighbouring rice paddies and farms attest to the fact that the farming implements created here are an essential component of the way of life.
• The majestic Ban Gioc Waterfall, which spans over 300 meters and is split evenly between Vietnam and China, is tucked away among these breathtaking natural settings. Here, you’ll have some time to just enjoy the breathtaking ambiance that surrounds the falls, which makes for some terrific photo opportunities.
• Then your visit to the falls is over, you should go see the extremely different but equally amazing Nguom Ngao Cave. Over 2,144 meters below the surface, the cave is teeming with amazing stalactites and stalagmites.

• After that, you’ll head back to Cao Bang town and descend the “snake pass” to Ba Be Lake, where you’ll spend the night in a homestay run by a Tay family that lives in the area and is built in the traditional manner. Here, you may unwind after a long day and savour a delectable, freshly prepared dinner.
• Accommodation: local homestay in Ba Be Lake or similar.

Day 3: Boat Trip To Explore Ba Be Lake – Hanoi (B/L)

• You will take a boat to the north coast of the lake after breakfast. From here, you will embark on a journey through the Ba Be National Park’s central rainforest. You will find a 500 million year old prehistoric cave along the lake’s edge, tucked away in an old forest made up of steel-hard, uncommon wood trees.
• A fire station a short distance away makes it possible to watch the birds.
• Resuming your hike will bring you to the An Ma temple, a Tay people sacred site dedicated to honouring the military commander and serpent god of the Mac dynasty.
• Now is the time to decide how you want to spend your time on the boat: unwind while taking in the scenery or swim in the lake’s freshwater? In any case, take in the breathtaking karst structures and jungle-lined surroundings.
• After lunch at the Ba Be Jungle Houses restaurant, the journey will come to a conclusion. You will travel around 230 km to return to Hanoi, stopping along the way at a tea plantation surrounded by undulating hills. It was time to say goodbye and make enduring memories and relationships when we got to Hanoi.

Note: Guests who would prefer not to walk might request to remain on the boat and explore Widow Island or go shopping instead.
