Who we are

Vietnam Backstreet Tours has been founded by 3 young Hanoian who were born after Vietnam War & growing up under the subsidized era (“coupon era”) before Vietnam opened the door to the World. The memo of rising up from Russian style Apartments, small back alleys just enough space for only 2 people walking or “black market” is always in our beautiful childhood. With different background of business but we all love Hanoi and decided to create a tour with different ways to explore the Real Hanoi.

By traveling with us, you are not only support the local people in the tour but also give 10% (from our profit) for Vietnam Backstreet Foundation in the rural NORTHWEST mountainous area of Vietnam (Education for Ethnic minority kids by building library & class rooms).

Vietnam Backstreet Tours, a English-speaking local travel agency approved by the National Tourism Administration in Vietnam.
Our travel agency holds a valid State License of International Tour Operator – No. 01-1861/2022/TCDL-GP LHQT, in accordance with Vietnamese law. The conditions to which obtaining this license are subject are established in order to protect the rights of travelers.
To ensure Vietnam Backstreet Tours’s civil liability to its customers, we also filed a bank guarantee of $10,000 with the Vietnam Technological And Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank).
This procedure aims to ensure that our agency has sufficient professional competence and financial capacity to organize trips for foreign tourists.

My name is Martin, I have thousands reason to become a tour guide but the most important one is 4 years ago when I worked in a Western Restaurant, a traveler told me that I got trick by some vendor and that made them feel so bad about vietnam tourism. The memo of rising up from Russian style Apartments, small back alleys just enough space for only 2 people walking or “black market” is always in my beautiful childhood and I love experiencing the four seasons, which bring with them so many different feelings, colors, and atmospheres that contribute so much more to the city than any single thing.
I couldn’t imagine my life without travel today. The smiles and happiness I receive from ethnic minorities and locals on a daily basis while on tour are the best things I can think of.
